Compliance & Safety
Lighting is one of the few things you buy online that gets hardwired into your house. This page sets out what our fittings are built for, what the law requires at installation, and exactly which certification sits behind them.
We have kept it specific rather than reassuring. Where something is certified we name the certificate; where it is not, we say so.
Australian supply
Every fitting we sell is specified for the Australian supply: 220–240V, 50Hz. We do not sell 110V stock or fittings that need a transformer or travel adaptor to run here.
Our dimmable fittings are dimmed by their own remote or driver, not by a wall dimmer. That matters at installation: pairing a remote-dimmed LED fitting with a wall dimmer can make it flicker, buzz or fail early. If a fitting is remote-dimmed, its product page says so, and it should run from an ordinary switched circuit.
Installation
All of our lighting is hardwired. In Australia that work must be carried out by a licensed electrician, in line with AS/NZS 3000 (the Wiring Rules).
This is not a formality we are passing on. Hardwired work done by an unlicensed person is an offence in every state and territory, it will usually void your home insurance, and it voids the warranty on the fitting.
- Give your electrician the product page before they start — it carries the weight, the drop, the wattage and whether the fitting is remote-dimmed.
- Ask them to check the ceiling can carry the weight. Our heavier chandeliers need a fixing into structure, not into plasterboard alone.
- Keep the installation receipt. It is what a warranty claim is assessed against.
Certification
Our manufacturing partners hold current certification from SAA Approvals Pty Ltd for components used in our fittings. Both certificates are published in full below — you can read them, and you can verify either one directly with SAA at saaapprovals.com.au.

Who you are buying from
Lume Designs trades as Alpha Vault Pty Ltd, ABN 73 682 553 911, operating from Delacombe, Victoria. If something goes wrong with a fitting, there is an Australian entity to deal with and an Australian address behind it — not an overseas marketplace seller.
Our products are manufactured through selected manufacturing partners and a production facility in China. You can read more about how that works on our About page.
If something is wrong
- Faulty or damaged on arrival — contact us before it is installed. Do not have a damaged fitting wired in.
- Changed your mind — 30 days from delivery, unused and in its original packaging. See our refund policy.
- Warranty — selected products carry a two-year warranty. The cover that applies to a given piece is stated on its product page.
- Australian Consumer Law — nothing here reduces your rights under the ACL. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded.
